Ahrefs Rank:
The Ahrefs rank is based on the quality and size of backlinks. The site which has good backlink structure will rank in the top.
Domain Rating:
Domain Rating is based on a domains backlink profile. The DR is measured using logarithmic scale 0-100 in which the latter is the strongest. Some of the key factors are,
  1. Unique Do follow links.
  2. Links DR rating.
  3. No follow link have less impact.
  4. Another important factor of a link is the number of sites linked to it.
Note: The DR of linking site increases the DR of the linked site.
DR may drop because of the increase in competitors link. DR of subdomain has no impact on DR of the domain.
